We’re halfway through 2023 and we thought we’d share some catering highlights from the year so far! It’s safe to say it has been a mega-exciting start to the year!
I can imagine for most wedding caterers, January is a time to rest and reset for the year ahead. For us being bespoke caterers, this is our time to develop our menus for our clients for 2024. Additionally, we start prepping the garden for growing our herbs and editable flowers. Hence, it’s actually a really busy month for us! This year, not only are we’re growing the usual herbs but also we have also added to our edible flower garden. Featuring Nasturtiums, Cornflowers and Calendula – all in a variety of colours to hopefully cover the summer season. Full of vibrant colours wedding themes for the year ahead! When were cater for a wedding – sadly we struggle to get photos because when we’re serving food. The photographers normally take their well-earned breaks. So, this does mean we struggle to get content to showcase our food and what we do. We get a few quick snaps and a lot of our feed is just that, it’s perfect for social media! But when it comes to our brochures and printed materials – the iPhone quality just doesn’t print so well. So this year, we were super lucky to work with such an incredible team! Of course, the taste team, but more importantly other suppliers in the industry!
We worked with Jason at a wedding we did back in June 22. We completely fell in love with his style. We’re a fun company. We love what we do, it’s 100% natural – we bring our buzz and energy to every event we do! Jason’s style totally matches our vibe so we knew we needed him, as he’d get ‘us’. We don’t want anything over-edited or cheesy. We’re a talented bunch, we serve really good food and we have a super fun team. So – Cissbury Barns has a special place in our hearts. It was the first ever barn we ever catered at, can you believe it?!! Our first wedding was incredible – the team were super supportive and our partnership has just grown since then! Now, as an associate partner at Cissbury Barns – we knew it was the perfect place. We cater at Cissbury lots. So it was important for us to be real and showcase our work somewhere you will most likely come across us! Ok, so here’s a fun one for you! All of the styling & flower displays were created by our kitchen and front-of-house team! With the vast amount of weddings we do. The creativity of the team and their pushing boundary attitude, we put our heads together and made something totally magical! A special mention is to Couvert Hire, who have the most BEAUTIFUL items to hire which floored us! As you probably know by now, we don’t like ‘the usual’. We like to be different and we like to be able to offer our clients the best for their placesettingss. Which is something we can now say with Couvert as our supplier! Just think…scrolling through Pinterest, and you see the most gorgeous, dreamlike place settings. This is what Couvert offer, so we’re over the moon to work with this fabulous company! Ok, so this one came as a bit of a surprise to us! We had no idea this was happening but we were put forward by a previous client. We still don’t know who! (Please let us know who you are so we can send you many, many thanks!!) So, in February – the 23rd to be exact. It was announced that we had won a very prestigious award. “The Best Wedding & Event Caterers in South East England in the Global Wedding Awards. We had received a few emails saying we had been recommended. But we didn’t think anything of it!
When we received the news, in good old fashion – we popped the champagne and celebrated an amazing achievement. The hardest thing – we were asked to keep it under wraps for a formal press release to be made. We, of course, took this very seriously and did not tell anyone 😏, no seriously… 😬
March welcomed our superstar Ops Manager Tom to the team as a full-timer! If you’ve been in contact with us over the last few months to enquire with us on catering. We’re sure you would have heard from Tom. Working previously for wedding catering teams all over the UK. Tom brings his expertise to our team heading up operations. He is also there on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. Since joining the taste team, Tom has blown our clients away. We’re super lucky to have him at the forefront of the team!
We’re so chuffed to be a recommended supplier at Fitzleroi Barn for catering. When they hosted a dinner fundraiser they reached out to us to cater for the day! It was a fabulous event where we served up a 3-course menu and ran the bar for them. An absolutely great day, filled with lots of laughs, love and of course food served!
Bury Manor Barn is a gem, and their team are amazing! We were invited to showcase at their open day in April and it was a huge success. With clients booking on the day, we won them over with our lovely hot canapés circulating the room! Some beautiful photos captured by LemonTree Photography filled with wonderful memories of the day. The lovely Denise was celebrating a big birthday and we spent the day catering for her lovely family! A family-style, casual lunch in a venue a stone’s throw away from our development kitchens! “Steve, thank you so much for all your hard work which went into making my party such a triumph. The comments from all my guests have been superlative. Well done. The food was absolutely delicious. Also, thank you so much for being so supportive and helpful to me at the planning stage. It was such a relief to me to leave everything in your capable hands. We will circulate your business cards amongst all our friends. We first met Emma & Theo the year before and these guys were amazing. They really understood us. Emma & Theo are big fans of pie. So of course, we created a wedding menu for them based on pies and it was incredible! Their beautiful wedding was at Fitzleroi Barn , adorned with gorgeous flowers. It was a truly magical day for such a lovely couple. “Thank you for making our wedding day simply the best.” You guys are so welcome. We are over the moon for you choosing us to do the catering for your special day!
Ok, so May went a little crazy! So here are our highlights!!
On Coronation day, our lovely clients Jo & Steve held a gorgeous wedding at Cissbury Barns. What a glorious day it was! Our smoked canapés made their debut. A duo of roasts was served with all the trimmings and their cake for dessert. “Wow !!!! Wow, wow!!! We got married on the 6th May ( Coronation Day ) at Cissbury Barns Findon. It poured with rain initially but didn’t matter. The catering was absolutely fantastic. From the moment I initially spoke to Steve, the tasting, the correspondence to the actual day.
The food and service where exceptional, everyone commented on both. The canapés were absolutely delicious, the mains hot and mouthwatering. I had two little ones who where not keen on the adult starters and one said. I’d like a bowl of strawberries. Within seconds they were brought out! Utterly delighted! I can’t thank you enough and anyone looking for personable, professional and delightful staff with amazing food. Look no further . ❤️❤️❤️”
This lovely couple had a dream in mind. They loved Harry Potter and planned to incorporate the books into their day as much as possible! This is when bringing the bespoke into catering really came into play! We created some creative ways to serve up their food and drinks on the day. “Steven & Charlotte we absolutely wonderful to work with. From our first consultation with them, they made us feel that they were 100% invested in our wedding theme and were full of ideas on how to theme the food too. They took on board everything we had to say and gave us total freedom to personalise the dishes. They are also fantastic value for money and worth every penny. Not only was the wedding breakfast incredible but the canapés & evening buffet was fantastic too.
Everyone commented on how lovely the food tasted and how well it was presented. Tom the front-of-house manager was exemplary; attentive, friendly, respectful and couldn’t do enough for us on our wedding day. He made sure we were never without anything, all the guests were looked after and everything ran smoothly. We really can’t recommend them enough, they will make sure your wedding catering is the talk of the town!”
The sun was shining for Judy & Stuart’s big day at Cissbury Barns! They had the best day, their guests were smiling from ear to ear. It was a pleasure to do the catering for their special day. The end of the night was the icing on the cake for us. A big thank you and personal word and praise from the groom himself. A truly fabulous way to end such a great day!
We love a wedding at Bury Manor Barn – and even more when it involves a lovely couple! Emma & Andrew were booked in with us from the very beginning. These guys were such a pleasure to work with. This lovely couple tied the knot at the Cissbury Barns. We were so happy to be chosen for their wedding catering and to celebrate with them on this special day, and we can’t wait to share more photos with you soon. Here is a snippet of their menu:
Honey and soy glazed aubergine with slaw and edamame
Crispy squid, ’nduja bon bons, lime creme fraiche
Sticky pork belly wedges, rocket and roquito pepper salad, chilli jam
Avocado & cashew pesto gnocchi, chilli, spinach & rocket
Roasted middle-eastern spiced lamb rump. Harissa tomato sauce, with fresh apricot, sweet potato, pomegranate seeds, toasted almonds chilli and spring onion salad
Pan-fried Halibut, pea, broad bean, asparagus risotto, braised fennel, crispy leeks lemon & caper butter sauce -Brill not in season. Pea puree, crispy capers, pea shoots, chive oil, fennel crisp.
Baked peaches with an amaretti biscuit crumble, honey, vin santo and vanilla ice cream.
Salted caramel cheesecake, cocoa nib tuile, chocolate crumb, caramel popcorn, chocolate sorbet

Kristina & Chris got married at the lovely Smallfield Place, a gorgeous Jacobean manor house in the heart of Sussex. It’s a beautifully picturesque venue, with walled gardens and blooming flowers. The sun was shining for their day and everything was perfect. Their palate was pink and deep red so of course we designed our food plating to suit! “We were so lucky to have you on our big day! ❤️ you are 🔥!”
