Quite often our clients will ask us – what does bespoke catering really mean and how does it differ from a traditional wedding caterer? Well, we’re here to answer that for you! 

What does bespoke catering really mean?

One-size-does not fit-all.

We see all of our clients as bespoke clients. We get to know our couples’ personalities, likes, dislikes and any little details of the day which can inspire a menu or the way it is served. The menus we create are also influenced by the time of year that the wedding will be, so we know that we will be serving up the best, local produce that is in season for their wedding day. We pull all of that together and we create their own perfect menu. Therefore, instead of picking from a list of lots of meals that every couple picks from – it’s about making something special for them.

When we think of the word ‘bespoke’, we think of the saying ‘it fits like a glove.’ We believe that this describes our work perfectly.

Our first meeting with our clients is all about getting to know them and what they want their wedding day to be like. We ask lots of questions – what are their favourite colours? What kind of style do they have? Any themes that they’d like us to incorporate into the wedding? It’s important for us to understand these details about them so we can tailor our offerings accordingly.

We’ve done anything from an ‘English Rose Garden’ where we serve up canapes in flower boxes filled with English roses, to most recently a Harry Potter-inspired wedding.

Harry Potter-inspired bespoke catering

You know those moments when you’re reading a book and you just can’t put it down, or watching a movie and you don’t want it to end? That’s how our clients felt about Harry Potter, and they wanted their wedding veiled in nods to their love for the details.

We love working with our clients to create experiences that are tailored to them, and this event was no exception. From the very beginning, our team was fully committed to understanding the wishes and dreams of our client for this event. We believe that a successful event is one that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our clients and their guests.

To ensure that every detail was perfectly aligned with our client’s vision, we dedicated significant time and effort to collaborate closely with them. Our experienced team listened attentively to their ideas, goals, and objectives, and then translated them into a meticulously crafted menu. By doing so, we were able to create an experience that truly reflected our client’s desired experience.

Wedding Day!

On the day of the event, our team worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life. From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in an environment that was carefully curated to create a memorable experience. The smallest details, such as the choice of colours, sound, and taste, were thoughtfully considered to evoke the desired ambiance.

Canapés 

We presented ideas of classroom books with dried ice test tubes for their canapés – which our clients loved. The theatre and experience were absolutely jaw-dropping and the guests were in awe! We heard someone say ‘I’ve never seen anything like it’ and for us – that’s the bespoke way! Not only were these a treat for the eyes, and of course, the taste buds – but the sound of the bubbling test tubes was incredible and really brought the 360-degree experience to life. The idea behind this was to create an interactive experience that was multi-sensory to keep our guests engaged throughout the whole reception.

Wedding breakfast 

Our couple opted for a 2-course menu for their wedding breakfast. We served up a feast of lamb with all the trimmings for their main course. The magic was in the air as we served our guests their desserts. In a nod to Harry Potter and his wand, we created little Olivander wand boxes that held a mini creme brûlée, chocolate brownie and of course—a chocolate wand. We served each of the guests one of these magical boxes each, with a small amount of dried ice, not to take away from the food, but to add an essence of their theme and magic. Our little boxes were accompanied by lots of oooh’s and ahh’s as they were placed down on each table.

We absolutely loved creating this magical menu for our lovely couple. We would love to help future couples to make their dream a reality on their wedding day.
